Many years ago when DIP was around and kicking for the first iteration, we lived in Insmother with Red Alliance as part of the RMC (Red Menace Coalition). RA are Russian (thus the terrible Comrade in title) and alot of folks in game had some strong feelings against them.

Back then, we helped run the US TZ part of their coalition, lead fleets, and started / fought wars with them. RA treated us right, always had our back, and we never had any issues with them. DIP was looking to leave QFC, because, well that place is a festering cesspool of whining “adults” who make my one year old look calm and collected (More on that below).

In short the RMC has offered DIP a place to rejoin the ranks and work on the US TZ piece once again. DIP has been slowly and steadily growing / maturing, so we accepted and moved down into the Period Basis region. We of course moved in with an Incursion down there, and TEST anchored bubbles in that space so the volume of folks who lost ships to incursion rats was… pretty amazing (horrifying). We are looking forward to the new journey and home to settle into for a bit. Of course, we move in and immediately the region gets cloaky camped (literally the region) which has produced some pain points

So let’s talk about the QFC (Querious Fight Club). I think the idea is phenomenal. Give a place for small alliances to build and grow with some protection. It allows Imperium to control a region, develop potential allies, and of course a small meatshield in the way. There’s a set of rules governing it, and in general I truly love the idea. The problem is, most of the alliances that live out there are… like the snot nosed whiny brats next door.

Let’s cover this in greater detail however.

A prime example of why the QFC is in a miserable state is this: “Rules lawyering will not be tolerated”

Southern Legion Alliance (SLA) started flexing their military might and dropped dreads on Divinity’s towers taking some of their sov by QFC rules. Black Legion came by (they had some cyno alts in region) and dumpstered SLA’s dreads. We got accused of hiring mercs to kill them… because everyone knows BL accepts contracts to kill three dreads… We also helped to save a Citadel of Divinity’s and were accused of bringing in Darwinism (who we have ZERO ties with) and then SLA pitched a fit to QFC Imperium leadership for us being there.

It was pretty funny, and technically we were not supposed to help save a structure. No big deal, we never actually landed on the structure, and it’s not like SLA would in the slightest fight us without greatly outnumbering us or sitting on a gatecamp kill. SLA got pretty angry about this though. The proceeded to kill the Astra later on without interference. The best part, which is what describes SLA to a tee, is what happened a bit later.

SLA was killing a Poco in a system they took near us. Due to QFC rules we were sadly unable to kill their anchoring Astra on our gate, but we saw a handful of mish mash ships on a poco. We bridged in, but due to their spacing was only able to snag one ship before the rest took off. We killed a VNI, and they proceeded in local to tell us to leave because they were on a “strat op”. A poco kill had become a strat op.

It gets better though, I get convoed by their executor, who asked for a refund of the isk value of the VNI because they were killing structures which is a “sov fight” and therefore me interfering was against QFC rules. I actually didn’t believe he was serious. Sadly he was. I laughed, and told him no, a poco is not a “sov event”. He told me he was done talking to me and when to QFC Imperium leadership demanding he be reimbursed. Thankfully, they realized what a stupid request this was and denied him.

The majority of groups in QFC, are not PvP groups. I watched tons of drama, whining, and raving in the QFC coordination channels from these groups. There is no fight club. It is a carebear haven. The entirety of existence out there for most of the folks are to mine and rat safely. It’s mostly blue to each other as well, Dusk / TXG (which is basically the same group) vs SLA + Outlaws + SR (who are the majority of QFC) now vs DVN.

I really hope that some new blood head out to QFC, and steam rolls folks. We are close enough to come say hi, and without the rule shackling us are probably going to gun down a couple of those ratting supers / carriers they are so fond of. The QFC just needs a handful of actual PvP groups to move out there and cause some mischief. DIP lost alot of ships out there, mostly due to newer folks learning the game. We never whined, complained, or attempted to argue rules in the slightest while we were out there. Nor did DUSK / TXG. Rest of the folks out there though…

Anyway, enough about that, DIP is in a good home, and still looking for some corps / folks to come fly with us. Stop being bored and come enjoy Eve again!

Birdy.jpgI am once again…. Kasken. Both Kasken and Heartcarver have been transferred to my accounts and I have returned to my toons. I was pretty damn excited to get them back. I honor this with another incredible terrible photoshop.

I also sold Radjick on the forums. He was good to me for a few months, but with my boys back… I’m good with my well trained alts now!

DIP has gone through some major growth and revision in the last month since my previous blog post. We have several corporations join, putting DIP at approximately 300 on paper which is solid. This is where we were in Insmother a few years ago and are off to an excellent start. We are starting to get kills, slowly increasing the PvP roams, and adding green to killboard now to help balance the red.

It’s been fun, as we slowly integrate more of our folks together, the alliance feel is maintaining it’s strength, just with more folks. We got slanted more towards US TZ with the acquisitions than before, and definitely can form up much better than a month ago as well.

DIP is in  a good position, rebuilding an alliance is extremely challenging at times. I get pretty frustrated, and dealing with the diplomacy is… quite painful. But, I’ve got several of my old crew back for round two at this point. Delegating has been a tremendous help. Thrakkar has rejoined, stepped back into alliance XO spot and has been crazy helpful organizing / running things.

Eve is returning to a fun world to play in. DIP is slowly progressing to what I want it to be. It’s simply a culture / numbers game and the the culture side is holding it’s own very solidly. For all you bittervets, it’s pretty damn hard to believe in much in Eve…. but legit give us a shot. It’s been a hell of a ride with plenty more to come…

The End of an Era

Well, it’s been months since I posted, and this will be my last post here about Eve. I haven’t actively played since the Providence week war. With the birth of my newest daughter in September, real life, and various other games Eve has slowly been losing its appeal. No, you cannot haz my stuffz.

First and Foremost…Kasken and Heartcarver have both been transferred off my account (with all their assets) to a friend’s accounts. I won’t divulge who it is, if he wants to say… it’s his call. This ensures I will not be returning to Eve. There is no way I would go from billions of isk, assets, and 220m SP to nothing again.

an_waving-happy.gifI will miss Eve in many ways. The community was both amazing and ruthless. I made some solid friends in Eve, and met some people that I couldn’t stand (remember Roweena anyone). I just lost interest, game has moved in a way that I no longer enjoy, or like.

Nostalgia makes you remember things a bit more fondly than it perhaps was, but the overall game has shifted into an area where it’s no longer about the thrill and about winning. Yea, there’s pockets of “good fights” and groups that still do that sort of thing. Eve was fun for me because of a few major activities:

  1. Fleet Commanding
  2. Major Goals and Objectives for PvP
  3. Sense of Community
  4. A purpose to activity beyond random PvP

The new SOV system… was not my cup of tea. The stagnation of the massive entities in Eve, suffocating the life of the game, and a lack of excitement, well retirement time. I want to thank CCP, the friends and enemies I’ve made along the way… it was an amazing 10 years.  If anyone wants to remain in touch feel free to let me know… and if anyone just enjoys my writing I will be making a new blog. It will entail random rants, ravings, various life things, and other assorted random things.

So this week was Imperium’s campaign to burn Providence. There was of course tons of hype on Reddit and various other places for it. Groups from all over Eve deployed down to the area for insane amounts of content, fights, and the general mayhem. Mittani stated he wanted all the IHUBs burned to the ground within a week to test Fozzie Sov and concepts.

So what did Kasken do during this war? I deployed as a Lawn FC running the majority of US Timezone fleets… a total of three for this war. It was quite an interesting experience and I learned a pretty good amount from it. Before I delve into the specifics I will add a quick recap however.

Imperium Constellation Breakdowns

Lawn was assigned the two constellations on the eastern side of Providence in conjunction with TNT. As I did not pay much attention to the rest of the groups out here, I can focus specifically on what happened in our little area. Yulai Federation and Sev3rance both defended these constellations. I want to give both those groups mad props for fighting the entire time. I dealt personally with [-7-], and from what I understand Yulai was fielding 150-200+ fleets (combinations of Yulai + friends and 3rd parties) daily in their defense of their constellation. So regardless of anything else, thanks for bringing some seriously fun fights to the table.

Lawn’s EU side of the house got hammered fighting Yulai. They had full blown defense fleets, and did an exceptional job tying up the EU TZ. As a result, only 1 IHUB in that TZ was destroyed. I’ve only got the hearsay for those fleets as the whole real life got in the way, so other than props to Yulai, that’s the extent of my knowledge for there.

US TZ Lawn had a total of five us timer systems. Monday night we went out for the initial reinforcement. TNT organized and lead a “main body” Cerberus fleet, and I lead a Svipul support fleet and troll ceptors for entosising. The concept behind it was that the Cerbs could lock down B-WPLZ entrance to pocket system leaving out entosis dudes free reign to hit everything back there. We painfully learned several things.


Troll ceptors are great for isolated roaming and annoying null sec dudes. For a “serious invasion” they are pretty terrible. [-7-] did an excellent job of dropping quick blap ships, Griffins, damp ships, and various other annoyances on them breaking their cycles. Waiting for the warm up over and over was extremely time consuming. After flying the Svipuls all over, I quickly split off a handful of small groups and assigned them systems to defend. This seems like common sense with Fozzie Sov. Have several “squads” of pilots who are dealing with small threats. In theory, it is very easy to manage. Allow me to explain why in practice it’s much harder.

Not all pilots are Camel Empire / Warlords of the Deep style competency at piloting ships. Nor are all FC’s created equal. In a Fozzie Sov assault, I was personally trying to manage:

  1. Assigning people to specific capture points
  2. Calling targets, fleet warps, moving systems, and other normal FC jobs with the support fleet
  3. Replacing entosis inties that got popped with new ones
  4. Tracking who was engaged where by what
  5. Watching Intel
  6. Coordinating with various other comms channels and fleets

Now with time, tons of troll ceptors, micromanagement of Svipuls, and willing pilots we did entosis all the assigned Ihubs, stations, and a TCU or two that was not on a POS on Monday night over the course of a couple hours. The small squads were effective at stopping the straight Entosis ganker that would show on grid, or at a minimum would lose a ship to do so.

Fast forward to Wednesday  night. We adjusted our game, as did [-7-]. Our entosis ships were upped to Drakes, going with a better tank and the goal of surviving longer so support can help. I want to focus more on this night because personally this is where I feel more lessons hit home.


I lead a Cerberus fleet Wednesday night. TNT had jump cloned back due to needing to defend their own SOV that had been hit while down in Providence, essentially leaving Lawn on our own at this point to hit two of the more heavily defended constellations in Providence. I had roughly 90 people, including 20ish entosis Drakes, and a standard set of Cerbs, Scimis and support ships.

The first problem… nodes. So   many    nodes. Mistake #1 was trying to do everything in a single shot. A large alliance that can field full fleets, and split up for constellation control, perhaps it works just fine. A smaller group needs to bite off more manageable chunks, or at a minimum understand not all contests will be won.

Another major issues, is Providence itself. I do NOT fault [-7-] in the slightest for abusing this, but they had stations in ever single system. At the start of the capture event, they had pilots spread across, and docked in all of said systems. Multiple ships of different types were in each station allowing them to switch on the fly as needed. For defense it worked great. Undock 15 Caracals, warp to node, pop entosis, warp back. Coordinated hits on entosis ships made it almost impossible to defend. Combine that with their own troll ships entosising untouched nodes, that we had to keep scouting for and ganking provided hours of harassment.

I did indeed once again, take some extremely capable pilots, hand them a few small guys as squads, and let them play anti-tackle. [-7-] stepped up their game, and started dropping larger fleets on entosis ships that the tackle couldn’t touch. If I left with my Cerb fleet to chase them down, their 40ish man Cerb fleet of their own would hit things on the other side of the constellation. I did not have the numbers to be able to split too much more and maintain ability to handle their main fleet as well.

I learned from the previous fleet though. I had help on this one. Another FC managed Entosis Drakes, assigning to various nodes, and handling requests for help. Eventually they split into a separate fleet and a 30 man Goon Harpy fleet came to back us up and chase away the smaller [-7] fleets that were hitting Entosis Drakes. Cards were played well, and [-7] kept harassment, bouncing different systems, never staying long someplace. ECM ships kept making appearances, jamming and leaving forcing cycle restarts.

imagesI realized halfway through this fleet part of what we were doing wrong. We focused the majority of our Drakes in a single system targeting all  nodes. The thought process was defending was easier since in a single system. I kept the light tackle bouncing different systems to try and find [-7-] entosis ships and catch/kill them as well. The Cerbs were positioned to block the larger fleet from entering the pocket, but they still had at least 40 pilots spread across those systems making it difficult.

I should have concentrated on specific nodes for targeted systems. The overwhelming amount of nodes pretty much made sure I could not cap everything, and if I had focused 20 drakes on every IHUB node for a single system at a time, we could have capped the IHUBs much quicker, shrinking the pool of nodes much more quickly. Doing so would mean less scouting, less defense needed, and more  node control. The initial brawl would still be difficult, but once a system or two’s worth of nodes despawned, it would have been far more manageable. By the time we started focusing on all of a single system’s nodes it was too late. We regrettably let KBP’s nodes fall in an effort to make sure we capped the rest of the IHUBs.

It is extremely hard to maintain control in an environment like this. [-7-] had the ability to turn loose all their pilots and say go forth and cause mayhem. They could entosis willy-nilly all over, and have 3-4 semi organized groups ganking individual entosis ships. They also were able to reship quickly, reform quickly, titan bridge back and forth, and cause havoc. They played quite fair of course, as they were defending their home and did an excellent job using all the available tools. We managed to catch their main fleet a few times, inflicting losses, and slowing them down.


FozzieSov is chaotic, and the sheer amount of information being flung at FCs is incredible. There is a massive amount to track and deal with. If Lawn does an invasion, turns to me and says: “Kasken, run this invasion”, I will do a few things.

  1. “FC can I bring drake?” I will say YES… seriously I love annoying certain individual by allowing drakes!
  2. Start smaller, Lawn is not fielding massive fleets, we will hit a few systems at a time, or if we do hit them all, do it specifically allowing certain nodes to fall uncontested.
  3. Train additional FCs to handle the small stuff. These need to be FCs who are good small gang pilots, and can instinctively rejoin the larger fleet as needed without needing to be told what to do every step of the way. Ideally these are 5 man groups that can tackle, kill, and scout effectively.
  4. Implement a system of taking nodes that do not involve a main FC tracking each individual node and assigning a player to it.

It was a great experience, I had fun, got lots of kills, several fights, and some good times over the week. We also had some long, extremely painful fleets, and alot of “I know what I am doing better than you” attitudes in fleets. I don’t think line member pilots can truly appreciate the insane amount of info being passed around in command comm channels, plus fleet channels and jabber pings that the FC is watching during the course of fighting for nodes in Fozzie Sov.

The theory of putting out squads all over and taking it that way is perfectly well and good, applying it into practice is much more difficult than one would expect. Once more, props to Sev3rance for the fights, and their ability to maintain what they could. Lawn US TZ killed 4/5 in our assigned constellation that had US timers. Pretty Map. XHQ-7V is actually an EU timer.

It was a fun week, lots of fights, third parties everywhere, and a hella learning experience. I got to FC most of the major fleets, feeling very comfortable in the FC slot again and had a blast. I would definitely invade providence again for content 🙂 Mad props for the fights guys!

The Dance of the Naked Monkey. It is perhaps one of Eve’s most impressive courting rituals. It typically begins with the gentle seduction of a warp disrupter gently stroking a ship’s warp drive abilities. It then turns into a full on massage of guns, missiles and drones stroking the hull. It continues faster and faster, with one side trying to stave off the inevitable explosion and the other side overheating harder and harder until finally something pops leaving a gooey pod floating in space.

This particular story begins with an older whore by the name of Kasken. This fine fellow returned from a long hard day at work. Upon arriving back at his domicile and completing the nightly ritual of praying to Bob, he patiently awaited some sort of action beyond putting a small screaming child to bed. Then, when all hope appeared lost, his Jabber went off with the Horn of Gondor. Hostile caps were tackled. Kasken did what any normal male would do when faced with the prospect of free kills. He screamed like an excited four year old girl who was receiving the best chocolate cake ever (legit, I’ve witnessed it) and jumped into his trusty Cerberus. BWF-ZZ was incredibly distant, a good eight jumps, so instead he took a titan bridge and leaped into system missiles blazing in premature fury. Missiles spurted in every direction, whoring on all ships that were hostile, possibly a few that weren’t. Victory was achieved, a killing blow was earned.


Overall Lawn lost the fight, as it was a blap dread being used to wreck the Macherial fleet that was messing around, but Kasken did indeed achieve a personal victory of snatching a kill with a Cerberus in fleet. Op success!

revenge ofthedronesThe following night, following the immense satisfaction of a previous conquest, a small group of swarming Vexors strolled into Vale of the Silent.  They, hoping to follow in the Great Kasken’s Footsteps (worthy of capitalization) managed to tackle a Lawn carrier. Kasken charged forth with the roaming fleet that was out and went to brawl in the noblest of causes. Nay, not defense of a carrier, but additional killmails and efficiency on zkill. Baiting with a nano Typhoon, designed to shoot from afar, Kasken jumped into their fleet at zero on a gate and was immediately primaried. I started melting quickly, since the buffer fit was designed for kiting. A hero Scythe began to rep the Typhoon who bravely MJDed away from the fight to save his own skin.

He did eventually get back into it, and the hostile fleet was obliterated at a zero cost with the exception of some ammo sacrificed to the Aztec gods of Eve virginity.

Incredible Amazing Overpowered Tiny Battle Report

After the glory achieved, Kasken was indeed spent. He spent some time recuperating, recovering, and preparing for the next incredible epic of Eve. Something more worthy than even Beowulf, a ballad of legends. Then the call came. An inter-LAWN FFA to win the most expensive of Eve prizes… an Ashimu. T1 cruisers were called and the brawl was decided upon. Approximately 15 pilots were thrown into the ring, with the survivor earning the Ashimu. People began brawling, kiting, and trying to kill each other in what amounted to a full blown Civil War. Kasken decided upon the absolute best and bravest course of action, running away with the Stabber.

As people died horribly, screaming, crying, and begging for forgiveness, Kasken bravely flitted around the outskirts of the fray, killmail whoring and taking potshots at people close to death to increase his own ego. Finally, with only a handful of ships left on the field, Kasken dove in to achieve the fame and glory that were rightfully his after holding on the edge of the field for a long time. First a Caracal went down, then an Exequorer. Sadly, Kasken might have slightly overestimated his own ability and underestimated ranges, allowing himself to be  warp scrambled and webbed. This allowed the evil cowardly PlexedLive to take a final parting shot, betraying his blood brother for something as simple as an Ashimu.

Yesterday, Kasken again went to work, because this whole not being super rich thing gets old. He returned home after picking up the strange creature known as his child, and fed her a diet of kielbasa, ketchup and cucumbers. This was so she could gain her strength while learning to farm isk for the head of household. Once more, the Jabber pings went off indicating hostile caps were tackled. Kasken performed his usual WHORE TIME routine and once again got bridged in with his Cerberus. Once again the mighty, and incredibly talented Kasken was able to arrive on the field, anchor, and hit F1 far better than a well trained monkey.

Whoring Objectives Achieved

The Lawn + Bastion losses were enhanced by a Sin who was told not to jump in, did, and proceeded to die to bombers. This same Sin pilot then got trolled out of Mumble. With yet another evening spent, our Lord and Lobster King Kasken, expected an evening of recuperation and relaxation. Things do not always go as planned and instead a nano roam went out, with Kasken leading his glorious men to certain doom. Doom, Doom, Doooooooom.

We flew through at least twenty systems with everyone fleeing us before us screaming of the impending elite forces descending upon them. The almighty fleet, aka The Claw of the Crustacean God arrived in their destination D-I9HJ.  At this point the fleet did the only logical course of action, and waited for the evil horde of enemies to form specifically to fight us. And indeed they did. They dropped a fleet of roughly twice our numbers, higher tech ships, and designed to wreck nano ships.

The Claw managed to stay on grid, long after they were supposed to, earning kill after kill while sacrificing themselves to the whelp gods. Kiting, running, warping, and screams of Jihad or “I’m down” filled the Mumble services. Rather than retreat, like intelligent people would do, instead the Claw fought endlessly, achieving a non existent isk efficiency in order to increase enemy morale.

Operation Success


On a more serious note, it’s been a pretty fun week. Stories will slow down in a bit, as my wife is expected to pop with another Pod pilot soon, which will probably cut down my ability to play for a bit. A newborn makes it a bit harder to lead fleets and kill things, while remaining safe from the ravages of a tired and angry wife. Not the good ravages either…

Hopefully the next week continues to be some solid fun fights. Last week was a decent mix of small gang, fleet combat, and decent kills so let’s hope that trend continues!

Back in the Saddle Again

This is by far my best photoshop yet. It actually looks mildly realistic…especially compared to my usual. I’d say I am getting better…but it’s still just a copy and paste. Don’t be jealous, for only several billion isk and I can teach you these mad skills.

So I have been starting to FC again/ It feels good to be back in the saddle. I’ve even got to take out some more realistic fleets of 40+ people getting back into the mid-gang. I’ve also lead some small roaming fleet as part of my  job co-running a small gang SIG in Lawn. It’s lead to some fun little fights and lots of kills lately in various places around Eve.

The festivities that matter started when we took out an Interceptor training roam. We had a wormhole out to Querious  and took that. It ended up being a roam around all of Querious, Period Basis and Delve. We started with a 15ish man fleet. Upon arriving in Querious we were shortly thereafter greeted by a Short Bus Syndicate fleet of fun things for interceptors to fight, like Caracals, Armageddon, and various other kill Interceptor type items. We lost the sole Sabre we had and carried on.

We killed a handful of small things. The biggest thing we killed was a Drake. We tackled an Archon on a gate, with the 13 interceptors we had left. We kept it tackled for a little bit and they formed a fleet to stop us. We had a Cynabal in structure, but he caught Archon reps and that was the end of that fun little romp. On the way back to the wormhole we caught a Vexor on a gate, but sadly he killed me before popping.


imagesFriday night I took out a fleet of Frigates entitled a “Swarm” fleet. The requirements were simple, have 20ish K range. I asked for any frigate that can sit about 20k off and added Hyena / Keres support for tackle. We roamed down into Wicked Creek area getting some small skirmishes along the way. I stopped by my old friends Phoebe Freeport Republic but they were mostly docked. We had many kills, and the term is used loosely because we spent alot of time wrecking MTU’s, like 10+ of them. We had a few random kills as well, nothing amazing, but we capped off the night fighting a TEST Talwar fleet with frigates.


A quick backtrack, the SIG (special interest group) I am co-running is for small gang warfare. More specifically, the goal is to teach pilots to fly in a manner beyond anchor + F1. I am not the best pilot in Eve, but I am not that bad either. So our goal is how to fly ships. That being said, this frigate roam was that style. Each pilot was responsible for their own ship and piloting.

Battle Report

The ship we lost was a pilot who had left fleet and was heading home, the actual fight we took no losses vs Talwars which I am ok with. They also had a few get out that didn’t show up in reports. Overall I was pretty happy with the pilots handling their ships and ranges correctly.

Saturday morning I took out a “real” fleet. xxDeathxx came to play in a 30ish man Rupture fleet to our doorstep. I put together a fleet to fight, and went after them. It wasn’t exactly a fair fight, we used Cerberus vs Ruptures. Mostly because I didn’t want to use AB Moas against MWD Ruptures. Nor did I want Caracals because I didn’t think I would get the numbers we did. I lost no one in my fleet, losses we had were prior to said fleet.

Battle Report

Later in the day I lost a Stabber Fleet Issue to a Garmur fleet. That was highly annoying because I had warped but didn’t get MWD off fast enough so it sat there aligning in the same direction for a while without actually warping. I got tackled, and then damped beyond belief so I couldn’t lock anything within even 15k. No kills for me there.


Things got a little interesting and it appeared that xxDeathxx had a fleet waiting on a Titan to bridge. The accuracy of that statement we couldn’t verify, but we formed Cerbs again to go play. I ended up stepping up to FC that fleet, and we headed to BWF-ZZ to get a fight. After about 15 minutes xxDeathxx formed and undocked. They had an armor Ishtar fleet out. I thought we could two shot the Ishtars but they had enough Logi and were quick enough on their reps that we couldn’t break anything. I made a small mistake and didn’t turn on prop mods quick enough which cost us two Huginns and two Cerbs. I got our fleet out and we popped a few FlyCatchers on our way home. Nothing amazing, but at least the fleet was saved. Not my finest hour but it could have been far worse.

The weekend ended on a 20 man roam using Wormholes and Thera to get around. Instead of killing MTUs we killed several ESS instead. We managed a few small kills, an Oracle and a Tempest being the highlight of them. It was a fun roam even though we did not have anything overwhelmingly great for a fight.

I am enjoying starting to get back into the FC thing again. I need a focus or a war though. Roams are a pain to FC because the distance I need to travel means I can’t bring real fleets, need the warp speed. I am hoping Eve picks up again because I want to keep the FC train rolling and get into full blown brawling again. I am still having some fun at least in Eve which is always a plus.  Looking forward to more fights…


The Once and Future Lobster King






Salt piles, epic piles… frequently how I feel after I lose a ship to things that irk the hell out of me. Losses happen in PvP, everyone knows that. I went through a series of stupid losses, partially cause of my piloting, and partially because people refit specifically to engage a specific ship.

It started with a Garmur loss. I’ve had it for a while, so there was that whole sentimental value thing. There was also a combination of me screwing up, IE aligned to a planet next to the station so I was  unable to “warp” to it. I was told the Huginn was triple damped, and apparently he was also remote SBed… so I got webbed at 55k and pretty much insta popped with volleys of stuff. Salt pile established. The good thing is I did get all my loot back from it, since everything faction dropped.

Next day I went back out solo in a Vexor Navy Issue. Warped in at a ping, 250 off… and promptly had a Stiletto warp and tackle. Of course, like most solid microgang PvP… they were all nano fit. I couldn’t maintain tackle on the Osprey long enough to get a kill so pop went the VNI.

I went back out shortly thereafter, and our good old Russian friends refit their ship with small guns, web, scram and the like to kill our small fleet. I had everyone align, and screwed up my own flight path getting caught by the Hurricane… Confessor down.

Finally, I went out another day in an other Confessor. I fought a Maller on a gate, he was able to de-aggress and jump back through the gate due to his tank. After roaming around, I came back out to his area. He landed on gate to fight me, refit his Maller entirely, and held me down long enough for the Caracal to get in and help finish me. Second Confessor down. I was highly irritated, that whole solo is dead thing just irked me.
hgaahHowever, after a few days of relaxing, I got some free time and went out on a roam last night. We were in mostly small ships, led by a first timer FC. We came upon a small fleet camping a gate with a Stratios, Sabre, and a Svipul. Our tackle was two jumps ahead, and got into the engagement a bit ahead of everyone else. I arrived second, followed quite closely by the Keres. It was a fun fight. The Keres (PlexedLive) kept the Sabre busy, and I worked on neuting out the Sabre + Svipul while alternating tracking disruption on them.

We lost several ships, but killed all three. The Sentinel is one of the most challenging ships in Eve to fly, well. Managing multiple neuts, a nos, tracking disruption, and drones frequently on several different targets at once, while working on surviving is incredibly fun.

I don’t think there is a single better ship to learn micromanagement and manual piloting than the Sentinel…


Finally, in less than 12 hours from the time of this posting, Kasken will indeed have Perception / Willpower skills complete. After years of training them, I will swap to Charimsa for a few months to max out the on grid boosts. I already have FC V, so only need roughly 90 days of training to max out the rest of what I need. Since I have two remaps, I will do Int/Mem right after.
